i heard (from one of my friends) about this song; Gloomy Sunday which was written by Rezsô Seress who apparently killed himself by jumping from his building months after writing his song...

rumor? urban legend? who knows...

i researched about this on the net and what i came upon was that "Gloomy Sunday" was reffered to as the "Hungarian Suicide Song" not only that but that many thought this song was too depressing to broadcast which kept radio stations from playing the said song.

but how can such a simple song drive people crazy enough to kill themselves?

Gloomy Sunday was revived by popular singers including Sarah Mclachlan, Ricky Nelson, Billie Holiday, Björk even Elvis Costello...

but what makes the song so controversial? is it because that the writer had killed himself that people began to think that the song is cursed? or is it just a myth? an urban legend?

Currently listening to: Gloomy Sunday
